SS dagger first model with a Berlin district marking on the reverse of the lower guard fitting (III). Maker Gottlieb Hammesfahr Solingen-Foche. The blade is bright, unsharpened with traces of the cross grain polish visible. There is evidence of old cleaned corrosion on both sides of the blade, mostly near the tip. Nickel upper and lower grip fittings. securing nut and eagle, with an enameled SS rune set into the upper portion of the wooden grip. While there are no chips or missing portions of the grip, several thin cracks can be seen; Steel bodied scabbard with nickel fittings. The body of the scabbard displays evidence of cleaned corrosion, with several areas of pitting. The finish has been restored with metal blue.
