NB: The 1st SS division "Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler" held the double role of protection unit of the Fuhrer and combat unit. It was present in all theaters of operation of the Second World War on European territory. Initially the Leibstandarte, made up entirely of members of the SS, constituted Adolf Hitler's personal guard. Subsequently the Waffen SS was created so that the SS could join combat units. The Leibstandarte grew to become a Panzer Division. A LAH detachment remained permanently throughout the war with Chancellor Adolf Hiler to ensure its security. The emblem of the LAH division represents a master key in honor of Josef Sepp Dietrich (in German Dietrich means master key).
